Gen 3 Predictions: Move Sets of Fully Evolved Pokemon (Plusle – Camerupt)

Gen 3 Predictions: Move Sets of Fully Evolved Pokemon (Plusle – Camerupt)

The Pokemon Company International revealed the upcoming Pokemon Go’s Halloween Event and teased us with possibility of Generation 3 release.

If Gen 3 is released it will bring in some new movesets to the game. Here are the predictions by reddit user pdiz8133 of potential movesets for Generation 3 Pokemon.

Prediction will be in following parts:

  1. Sceptile to Shiftry
  2. Swellow to Exploud
  3. Hariyama to Manectric
  4. Plusle to Camerupt
  5. Torkoal to Seviper
  6. Lunatone to Milotic
  7. Castform to Walrein
  8. Huntail to Metagross
  9. Legendaries

Purpose

One of the big changes that came with generation 2 was a move set reshuffle. New moves were added, most older moves were adjusted and re-balanced, and older Pokemon had their learn-able moves change. I decided to take a look at Generation 3 Pokemon and see if I could predict what might be in store when generation 3 launches.

Something to keep in mind is that moves as we know them will change so for example, Fire Spin/Overheat may no longer be an amazing move set and Heat Wave could become the Outrage of Fire and now reigns king. One thing to note, I am disregarding wildly out of place moves (such as Solar Beam Typhlosion or Fire Blast Slowking). While I am sure they will happen, I see no point trying to predict them.

Moves

Here I will include a list of new moves I am predicting we might see with Generation 3. You will see these moves throughout my posts. I will not guess the DPS or damage of them, just that they will make an appearance. This will only update to reflect moves I plan to cover in the current post or have been covered in previous posts.

Plusle – Electric – Max CP: 1681

Attack: 167

Defense: 147

Stamina: 120

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Spark: The first Electric move Plusle learns. It is one of the most common early moves for Plusle.
  • Quick Attack/Volt Switch: This could either end up as Quick Attack as a non-Electric move that is learned natually or Volt Switch, which is not naturally learned, but pretty common none-the-less.

Charge Moves:

  • Discharge: One of two Electric charge moves Plusle learns natually.
  • Thunder: The other Electric move Plusle learns natually.
  • Swift/Thunderbolt/Wild Charge: Plusle does not really learn many attacking moves naturally and this spot could end up being something random. That being said, Plusle does learn Swift naturally and Thunderbolt/Wild Charge are pretty common options for non-natural moves.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Charge Beam, Counter, Hidden Power, Iron Tail, Mud-Slap, Quick Attack, SparkVolt Switch

Charge Moves:

Body Slam, Discharge, Dynamic Punch, Grass Knot, Signal Beam, Swift, ThunderThunderboltThunder PunchWild Charge

Minun – Electric – Max CP: 1585

Attack: 147

Defense: 167

Stamina: 120

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Spark: If you couldn’t figure it out from the pictures and names, Plusle and Minun are pretty similar. I fully expect them to have the exact same moves or opposites (one has Volt Switch while the other has Charge Beam or something similar).
  • Quick Attack/Volt Switch: Same as Plusle but Charge Beam may make an appearance.

Charge Moves:

  • Discharge: See Plusle.
  • Thunder: See Plusle.
  • Swift/Thunderbolt/Wild Charge: If Minun is not the same as Plusle, Minun will probably have one of these three that Plusle did not get.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Charge Beam, Counter, Hidden Power, Iron Tail, Mud-Slap, Quick Attack, SparkVolt Switch

Charge Moves:

Body Slam, Discharge, Dynamic Punch, Grass Knot, Signal Beam, Swift, ThunderThunderboltThunder PunchWild Charge

Volbeat – Bug – Max CP: 1620

Attack: 143

Defense: 171

Stamina: 130

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Struggle Bug/Infestation: Volbeat learns Struggle Bug very early and Infestation very late but both are learned naturally.
  • Zen Headbutt: It may seem out of place however Zen Headbutt is learned natually by Volbeat.

Charge Moves:

  • Bug Buzz: Bug Buzz is the strongest Bug move Volbeat learns naturally and is very likely to appear in Pokemon Go.
  • Play Rough: This is a naturally learned move of Volbeat and would be a good coverage option.
  • Signal Beam/Silver Wind: Volbeat will most likely receive two bug moves since that is the majority of what it learns. Signal Beam is learned naturally but Silver Wind is not uncommon. One last thing to keep in mind, Volbeat may end up having some Electric moves mixed in for Pokemon Go given it’s glowing theme as a firefly.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Bug Bite, Charge Beam, Counter, Hidden Power, Infestation, Mud-Slap, Quick Attack, Struggle Bug, Tackle, Zen Headbutt

Charge Moves:

Aerial Ace, Air Cutter, Body Slam, Brick Break, Bug Buzz, Dazzling Gleam, Dynamic Punch, Giga Drain, Ice Punch, Ominous Wind, Play Rough, Shadow Ball, Signal BeamSilver Wind, Solar Beam, Swift, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Thunder Punch, Water Pulse

Illumise – Bug – Max CP: 1620

Attack: 143

Defense: 171

Stamina: 130

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Struggle Bug/Infestation: Illumise and Volbeat are both very similar but there are some differences. I expect one to get Struggle Bug and the other Infestation.
  • Zen Headbutt: Again, a very likely, albeit out of place move for Illumise.

Charge Moves:

  • Bug Buzz: Bug Buzz is the strongest Bug move Illumise learns naturally and is very likely to appear in Pokemon Go.
  • Play Rough: Same reasoning as Volbeat.
  • Silver Wind: This is the major difference between the two. Illumise does not learn Signal Beam and while it can learn all of the same Electric moves that Volbeat can learn, they are not as often associated with Illumise.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Bug Bite, Charge Beam, Counter, Hidden Power, Infestation, Mud-Slap, Quick Attack, Struggle Bug, Tackle, Zen Headbutt

Charge Moves:

Aerial Ace, Air Cutter, Body Slam, Brick Break, Bug Buzz, Dazzling Gleam, Dynamic Punch, Giga Drain, Ice Punch, Ominous Wind, Play Rough, Shadow Ball, Silver Wind, Solar Beam, Swift, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Thunder Punch, Water Pulse

Roselia – Grass/Poison – Max CP: 1718

Attack: 186

Defense: 148

Stamina: 100

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Absorb/Razor Leaf: If Absorb is introduced as a move then it is the more likely option for Roselia otherwise Razor Leaf would be the best bet.
  • Poison Sting/Poison Jab: Poison sting is learned naturally however poison jab is the more common move for Roselias.

Charge Moves:

  • Petal Blizzard: The main grass type attacking move other than Petal Dance which is not yet introduced.
  • Dazzling Gleam/Giga Drain/Energy Ball/ Solar Beam: While only Giga Drain is learned naturally by Roselia, Niantic does not seem to like assigning it to many pokemon. Otherwise, I figured that Dazzling Gleam is a common coverage move that you see on Roselias but Niantic could also opt for a second Grass move.
  • Sludge Bomb: The main Poison type attacking move that Roselia can learn although it is not learned naturally.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Bullet Seed, Cut, Extrasensory, Fury Cutter, Hidden Power, Mud-Slap, Poison JabPoison StingRazor Leaf

Charge Moves:

Body Slam, Dazzling Gleam, Energy BallGiga DrainGrass KnotMega DrainPetal BlizzardSeed Bomb, Shadow Ball, Sludge BombSolar Beam, Swift

Swalot – Poison – Max CP: 1872

Attack: 140

Defense: 159

Stamina: 200

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Pound/Smog: Pound is the only Quick move that Swalot learns naturally and Smog would be a new Poison type Quick move and only one of two options for Swalot to have a Poison type Quick move (the other option is Acid Spray, Venoshock does not seem to be a likely Quick move candidate).
  • Infestation: Similarly to both Muk and Weezing, Swalot can learn Infestation and it is a very likely candidate for a Quick move.

Charge Moves:

  • Gunk Shot/Sludge Bomb/Sludge Wave: I could see Swalot receiving all three of these as the 3 Charge moves that Swalot learns however for the purpose of discussion, I will assume Swalot only learns one.
  • Body Slam: This is both a move learned naturally by Swalot and a thematically fitting move.
  • Shadow Ball: Similarly to Muk and Weezing, I expect Swalot to receive similar treatment and get a Charge move to counter Psychic types.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Bullet Seed, Counter, Hidden Power, Infestation, Mud-Slap, Pound, Rock Smash

Charge Moves:

Body Slam, Bulldoze, Dynamic Punch, Earthquake, Fire Punch, Giga Drain, Gunk Shot, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Ice Punch, Seed Bomb, Shadow Ball, SludgeSludge BombSludge Wave, Solar Beam, Thunder Punch, Water Pulse

Sharpedo – Water/Dark – Max CP: 1986

Attack: 243

Defense: 83

Stamina: 140

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Aqua Jet: Currently this is a Charge move for only a few select NFE (Not Fully Evolved) Pokemon however it is the ONLY water type move that Sharpedo learns naturally. It is also the only water type Quick move that Sharpedo could learn at all unless something like Waterfall/Whirlpool is introduced. Additionally, this is a 40 base power priority move in the original games, there are other matching moves and most are currently Quick moves (Ice Shard, Quick Attack, Bullet Punch) the only two that are introduced that are not Quick moves are Aqua Jet and Shadow Sneak.
  • Bite: Straight-forward dark type Quick that fits thematically and is learned naturally by Sharpedo. This is what you would call a given.

Charge Moves:

  • Crunch: All but guarnateed.
  • Hydro Pump: Of the current options (Brine, Hydro Pump, Scald, Water Pulse), Hydro Pump seems the most likely Water type Charge move for Sharpedo.
  • Night Slash: While this does double up on dark type Charge attacks, there aren’t many other likely options unless it is something like Poison Fang. Both Night Slash and Poison Fang are learned naturally.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Bite, Fury Cutter, Hidden Power, Mud-Slap, Poison Jab, Snarl, Zen Headbutt

Charge Moves:

Ancient Power, Aqua Jet, Avalanche, Blizzard, Brine, Bulldoze, CrunchDark Pulse, Earthquake, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Night Slash, Poison Fang, Rock Tomb, Scald, Swift, Water Pulse

Wailord – Water – Max CP: 2258

Attack: 175

Defense: 87

Stamina: 340

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Water Gun: Everyone’s favorite blimp will most likely receive the standard Water Quick move.
  • Astonish: The only other Quick move Wailord learns naturally however if Rollout is introduced, that is MUCH more likely since it is one of Wailmer’s most common moves.

Charge Moves:

  • Hydro Pump: The standard strong Water Charge move is also a very common move for Wailord.
  • Water Spout: Originally introduced in Generation 3, this is the signature move of both Wailord and Kyogre. I hope/expect Niantic to introduce it.
  • Heavy Slam: This move is both learned naturally and thematically fitting(-ish, Wailord is kind of a Blimp).

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Astonish, Hidden Power, Rock Smash, Water Gun, Zen Headbutt

Charge Moves:

Avalanche, Blizzard, Body Slam, Brine, Bulldoze, Earthquake, Heavy Slam, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Iron Head, Rock Tomb, ScaldWater Pulse

Camerupt – Fire/Ground – Max CP: 2016

Attack: 194

Defense: 139

Stamina: 140

Predicted Moves

Quick Moves:

  • Ember: The only Fire Quick move Camerupt learns naturally.
  • Magnitude: This would be a new Ground Quick move and the first one that was originally a physical move in the main games. I think this would be a good time to introduce it as it is a very popular move for ground type attackers and could help diversify the Ground Quick movepool from the current two that we have so far.

Charge Moves:

  • Eruption: Similarly to Water Spout for Wailord, this is the signature move for both Camerupt and Groudon. A perfect time to introduce these two.
  • Earth Power/Earthquake: Both are common Ground type moves for Camerupt but if Earth Power is introduced, I would expect it to get the nod over Earthquake.
  • Rock Slide: Learned naturally by Camerupt and a good option for coverage.

Current Available Moves

Quick Moves:

Ember, Hidden Power, Mud-Slap, Tackle

Charge Moves:
