As Lugia is a PSYCHIC and FLYING type, and it’s got a few very strong counters.

Useful Tips

Please remember Legendary Raids and not meant to fought alone, so do not try to solo it, go with a group. Other thing is always use Pokemon which are strong against the Legendary and have the right movesets.

Lugia is week against ELECTRIC, DARK, ICE, GHOST and ROCK type moves and takes Super Effective damage from them, due to its dual PSYCHIC and FLYING type. Best Pokemon to use against Lugia is Tyrantar with Bite – Stone Edge/Crunch, then Golem with Rock Throw – Stone Edge.

Lugia Raid Boss with Hydro Pump will cause issues as most of it counters are weak against Hydro Pump, so it becomes there counter.

In addition, all STEEL and PSYCHIC type Pokemon take reduced damage from PSYCHIC type moves.

Also STEEL, ROCK and ELECTRIC type take reduced damage from FLYING type moves, so keep that in mind.

These Pokemon are weaker than the counters mentioned above, but they are still viable, especially in large raid groups:

  • Slowbro with Water Gun/ Ice Beam
  • Slowking with Water Gun/ Blizzard
